Topcon Releases Latest Version of Laser Scanner Software: ScanMaster 2.0

Topcon Positioning Systems (TPS) has announced the release of ScanMaster 2.0 software which is “faster and more powerful than previous versions,” according to Fred Moser, TPS laser scanner sales manager.

“This new software saves time and increases productivity on every job,” Moser said.

“With laser scanning, software is the key. ScanMaster 2.0, the latest version of Topcon’s scanning software streamlines the data processing workflow and saves time, which is the bottom-line for any business,” Moser said.

ScanMaster 2.0 introduces many new and improved features, including:
  • Superior performance – visualization and rendering billions of points with no lag

  • Automatic edge extraction

  • Automatic region extraction

  • Volume computation

  • Automatic noise filtering

  • Automatic scan registration

  • Automatic CAD extraction for cross sections, contours and profiles directly from the cloud, no mesh is required
“Common drafting processes have been optimized and workflows have been simplified with this software. Data processing is quickly accomplished in the hands of the operator,” Moser said.

ScanMaster 2.0 comes as a free viewer module that enables instrument control, visualization and data mark-up. Moser said, “A user can take a scanner into the field and collect data while keeping the complete version back in the office for data-processing. The full functionality can be enabled with a security key.”

The core functionality of the software package has been enhanced and features a high performance point cloud engine offering faster indexing, reduced file size, improved visual quality, clarity and rendering performance. “This new feature frees up memory for the many new and improved processing algorithms,” Moser said.

“ScanMaster 2.0 sets a new standard for software performance. Not only are expected functions such as Mesh Processing, Volumes, Planes, Regions, Cross-Sections and Visualization standard functionality, but unique edge extraction and non-surface-modeled CAD extraction offer the next level of data processing.

“Combined with the GLS-1500, ScanMaster 2.0 provides the power and functionality to create the easiest and most productive terrestrial scanning system available,” said Moser.
